About
I beccame a professional photographer at the age of 26 when I began editing and second shooting for a wedding photography studio. Afterwards, I entered the newsroom in 2013 as an intern photographer at a daily newspaper where I worked full time along with an entire news staff.
In 2014 I was hired on as the Photo Editor at an independent, alternative weekly called The Durango Telegraph and also began writing professionally as a freelancer for various magazines, blogs, and for the weekly newspaper I worked for.
Soon, I also began working for nonprofits as the Communications Manager. I created and kept up with heavy correspondence, marketing materials, social media, event production, fundraising and more.
In 2021, I created and founded a nonprofit called Bike Durango which inspires more people to use bikes as transportation, and advocates for the safety of cyclists and vulnerable road users in our town.
In 2022, my first book was published, How to Cry on Your Bicycle (Casa Urraca Press, 2022)
Also, in 2022 I launched and began publishing my own print miniature magazine (zine), at that time, called Ride Your Bike! In 2024, the name changed to Commuter zine to cover all topics of alternative transportation. It is professionally printed and distributed around the world.
In 2023, I became Assistant Editor of The Durango Telegraph while continuing to write (and deliver the paper every week on my bicycle).
During my free time, I enjoy going on long bicycle adventures, riding my bike through singletrack, long roads, and big trees, reading books, and spending time with my dog and friends.
